About this Position
The Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences, Oklahoma State University (OSU) College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM) invites applications for a tenure- or clinical-track faculty position in equine surgery.
If you have a passion for educating the next generation of veterinarians and veterinary specialists, providing exceptional patient care, love contributing to clinical research (welcomed, but not required), and want to work in a collegial and supportive environment, this is the position for you.
Clinical responsibilities include mentorship and training of house officers, supervision of veterinary students, and technical staff in the examination and management of equine surgery patients. You would be joining a team of four board-certified (ACVS) equine surgeons and three board-certified (ACVIM LAIM) equine internal medicine specialists; one surgeon is also ACVSMR board-certified. The service is further supported by a busy equine theriogenology service and a growing equine field service.
Tired of being on call 24/7? We are in the process of building a separate after-hours large animal emergency service. This service currently has two faculty clinicians, one ACVIM LAIM board-certified and one ACVS board-certified, with a third position posted and waiting to be filled.
Additional responsibilities include didactic teaching, contribution to clinical research if desired (not a requirement for career-track), and participation in extension and outreach efforts of the College, if desired. Ability to do up to four weeks of consultation work outside our referral area is also included. An endowed Clinical Professorship is available as part of this position for qualified applicants.
Qualifications include a DVM or equivalent veterinary degree and certification by the American College of Veterinary Surgeons (ACVS). Candidates with credentials accepted who are sitting for the ACVS certification examination in 2027, will also be considered. Eligibility for faculty licensure in Oklahoma is required. Rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
This is a full-time position with an excellent benefits package, four weeks of vacation, and an equipped office. You will have the opportunity to develop as a veterinary educator supported by an enthusiastic and fantastic group of educational professionals in our Office of Curriculum and Educational Support (https://vetmed.okstate.edu/about/oces.html). Funding support for professional development is provided. Salary and professional rank will be commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications and experience, including consideration of previous accomplishments towards future promotions.
Oklahoma State University offers many benefits to its employees, including opportunity for childcare on campus, tuition waivers for dependent children of faculty, eligibility for public service student loan forgiveness, free membership to the University’s Wellness Facilities https://wellness.okstate.edu/recreation/facilities/, and mental health resources including onsite counseling.
Review of applicants will begin upon receipt of applications and will continue until the position is filled. Applications including letter of intent with statement of professional goals, curriculum vitae, and three names of references and contact information should be submitted at https://jobs.okstate.edu.
