About this Position

Director of Undergraduate Admissions. Upholding the values and mission of the institution and the Division of Enrollment Management, the Director of Admissions works closely with the Director of Recruitment and supports the Vice President of Enrollment Management to achieve enrollment goals. The Director of Admissions leads a dynamic team of 41 full-time professional staff members and 4 student staff across two campus locations, including OSU-Stillwater and OSU-Tulsa. The Director of Admissions oversees a team of 41 professional staff members responsible for the admission (operational), data and CRM management, marketing and communication of domestic and international undergraduate freshman and transfer students at OSU-Stillwater and OSU-Tulsa campuses. Reporting to the Vice President of Enrollment Management, this position plays a key role in the development and execution of admission and recruitment strategy for first-time freshman, transfer, international, readmission, online-only, non-degree seeking, strategic development, and overall new student enrollment. Through extensive collaboration with the Undergraduate Recruitment team and Enrollment Management leadership, they will implement short and long-term strategies to positively impact enrollment goals for the OSU-Stillwater, OSU-Tulsa campuses as well as provide leadership and assistance with OSU system admissions. The Director of Admissions should have strong leadership and management experience, demonstrate innovative and strategic planning and maintenance of salary, operational budgets; ability to proactively inquire, effectively analyze, interpret and present on data toward achieving enrollment goals; staying current on local and national trends that impact enrollment goals. Strong background in strategic enrollment management and system operations to create initiatives that work toward achieving enrollment goals; and operational planning and technology platforms to assist in institutional goals. Work well with other institutional leaders, specifically with the director of recruitment and director of financial aid, in establishing and re-enforcing admission policies and strategies. Ability to interpret and apply admission policies established by the University and Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education and provide consultation to OSU administration on policy development and implementation. Demonstrate strong writing skills and dynamic speaking skills to effectively communicate with all constituents (internal and external). Ability to innovate and maximize outcomes in all professional situations. Ability to provide a high level of customer service to all constituents, such as but not limited to the prospective student experience and the accuracy, timeliness, and efficiency of the admission process. Serve as a member of, and/or represent the office to various university committees or advisory groups as assigned by the vice president. To be successful, the individual will initiate, build and maintain positive working relationships with internal and external partners, including but not limited to: OSU’s divisions of Enrollment Management, Student Affairs, Access and Community Impact, the Oklahoma State Board of Regents, the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education (OSRHE), OSU Foundation, OSU Alumni Association, OSU Global, OSU-Tulsa, OSU Graduate College, OSU Academic Colleges, other colleges/universities in the A&M system, Big 12 Conference members and other peer institutions.

Required Qualifications

  • Master's (degree must be conferred on or before agreed upon start date)
  • Minimum seven years’ experience in higher education setting. Leadership in building collaborative, outcome-focused teams to communicate goals and implement initiatives. A team-oriented attitude with attention to detail and superior organizational skills. Demonstrated commitment to a mission driven organization that includes creative visioning and commitment to service. Implementation and management experience maximizing short- and long-term organizational goals and objectives. Demonstrated analytical skills in key areas of budget planning and execution, admissions and program initiatives. Demonstrated success in upholding national, state, and institutional standards, ethical guidelines, best practices, policies and procedures. Success in building and sustaining client or constituent relationships resulting in measurable, positive outcomes. Demonstrated strong presentation, writing, problem solving, and public relations skills. Minimum seven years post baccalaureate experience to include both broad supervisory responsibilities and process management.

  • Skills, Proficiencies, and/or Knowledge:

    Success in professionally leading, motivating, managing, and collaborating with various admissions team members as well as the recruitment and financial aid team. Demonstrate strong emotional intelligence; be proactive and solution-focused; adaptable; innovative; relational. Strong working knowledge of technology applications in recruitment and admissions processes or related areas. Excellent organizational, decision-making, problem solving, time management and counseling skills as well excellent written and oral communication skills. Strong commitment to the advancement of student and staff diversity, staff professional development and training; an active knowledge of marketing Exceptional team building and leadership skills and the ability to build consensus and collaborative relationships campus-wide that support the achievement of enrollment goals. Demonstrated ability to understand, evaluate, analyze, interpret, and effectively communicate information on various topics from diverse sources, and to use data and information effectively in planning and decision making. Knowledge of regulatory and professional and ethical guidelines in enrollment management and financial aid to ensure compliance with college, state, federal, and other outside agency rules and regulations. Knowledge of academic administration to include admissions, marketing, data and CRM leadership, retention, and persistence to graduation. Ability to lift 45 lbs.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ph.D./Ed.D.
  • Minimum of ten years’ experience in admissions or enrollment management leadership role as well as a minimum of five years of experience in the supervision and development of professional full-time staff. Demonstrated ability to develop and implement admission and recruitment strategies, policies and procedures for short-term and long-term organizational objectives and goals. Admissions experience with operational, data, and technology responsibilities. Working with campus constituents to implement enrollment initiatives including communicating goals, data, systems, and technology advancement responsibilities, and building collaborative, goal-focused relationships. Strategic planning and implementation to maximize recruitment efforts and admissions practices including staffing strategies, internal and external service, innovative technology and data implementation, admission evaluation and processes, communication funnel management, CRM, and SIS database experience. Demonstrated success and experience in working and leading within a comprehensive admissions program at a Research 1 university.
