About this Position

Join a globally engaged university committed to regulatory excellence, internationalization, and high‑quality service to scholars and students. We are seeking a knowledgeable professional to serve as an Alternate Responsible Officer (ARO) for the University’s J‑Visa program and a Designated School Official (DSO) for prospective graduate‑level F‑1 students. In this role, you will complete all required Department of State training, issue J‑Visa and F‑Visa documents, and ensure full compliance with federal, state, and institutional immigration policies.

You will support the administration of J‑Visa programs by maintaining accurate SEVIS records, preparing and interpreting DOS forms, coordinating orientation and cross‑cultural activities, and assisting with annual reporting such as IIE Open Doors. You will also provide campus‑wide leadership on immigration guidelines, deliver presentations and workshops, and serve as a key resource for faculty, staff, students, and visiting scholars.

Additionally, you will oversee Terra Dotta integration and data accuracy, manage user permissions, and ensure seamless data flow between RTI and university systems. As a representative of OSU’s International Students & Scholars office, you will participate in professional development through NAFSA, maintain current regulatory knowledge, and communicate updates to campus stakeholders. In your DSO capacity, you will issue I‑20s for prospective graduate students and advise them on visa processing, U.S. entry, transfers, and next steps for successful arrival.

Immigration Alternate Responsible Officer (ARO) for J-Visa issues. Liaison to Responsible Officer to support OSU’s J-visa initiatives. Clerical Assistant on J-visa Issues for Visiting Scholars. Processing DS-2019 requests forms for J-1 scholars & dependents. Communication with traveling new scholars for arrival purposes. Initial check-in and orientation of new scholars, ID issuance for scholars and affiliates (non-academic)Coordinate digital electronic application and maintenance for scholars. Collection & preparation of data for scholar reports. Development of scholar programs in conjunction with OSU faculty. Lead ISS person on conversion, integration and maintenance of the Terra Dotta software. All other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's

    International Relations, Management, Business, Social Sciences, Education, International Studies, Foreign Languages, Accounting, Finance or related.

    (degree must be conferred on or before agreed upon start date)
  • One year of related experience.

Certifications, Registrations, and/or Licenses:

Notary Public-within one year of initial hire. Designated School Official (F-visas) - required after hire. Alternate Responsible Officer (J-visas) - required after hire.

Skills, Proficiencies, and/or Knowledge:

Work well with International Students. Professional Communication skills. Sensitivity to cultural issues and differences. Accuracy and attention to detail. Strong organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's International Studies /Social Sciences /Business/Education /Counseling related.
  • International work outside of the United States, Immigration Officer, English Language Institute-ESL office experience, Student Services office experience.
