About this Position
The Field and Research Service Unit (FRSU) is a component of OSU Ag Research that has a mission to conduct research on agriculture, natural resources, rural economies and social issues to increase science-based knowledge and develop technology to improve the lives of Oklahomans.
The Field & Research Service Unit encompasses the infrastructure and local staff for field- and lab-based research experiments. Facilities include research stations that span the diverse environments across Oklahoma and the campus based Controlled Environmental Research Lab, Stored Products Research Center, multiple greenhouses, and core lab facilities. This position is housed at the Kiamichi Forestry Research Station in Idabel, OK and requires a service attitude with strengths in teamwork, professionalism, and resource stewardship.
Assist in implementation and maintenance of forest research projects. Managing, organizing, summarizing, and writing reports for large data sets. Providing on-site supervision of graduate students and student employees in the field. Other duties are to be completed as assigned.

Required Qualifications
Certifications, Registrations, and/or Licenses:
Must possess and maintain valid driver’s license. Must maintain a cell phone capable of communication with calls, emails, and text.
Skills, Proficiencies, and/or Knowledge:
Must be dependable, work independently and have a service attitude to effectively work with people. Ability to work with faculty, staff, technicians, and graduate students of many departments within and outside DASNR, as well as the public and visitors to the research station. Ability to assist in demonstrations of equipment and station research areas. Maintain stewardship of available resources.
Forest or related plant measurements, operation of complex equipment, experimental design; statistical analysis; proficiency in appropriate software; data logger deployment and programming; ability to operate motor vehicles and work outdoors in difficult terrain; ability to write for a scientific audience; ability to present results to varied audiences. Greenhouse maintenance abilities.
Demonstrated competency and effective use of computing and computer-based communications technology.
Preferred Qualifications
- Three years work-related experience to include executing research protocols, collecting samples, analyzing samples and data, summarizing data, and writing research reports.
Certifications, Registrations, and/or Licenses:
An Oklahoma Ag Chemical Technical Service Applicators or Demonstration and Research license.
