About this Position

Langston University invites applications and nominations for the position of Dean of the School of Business. Reporting directly to the Vice President for Academic Affairs, the Dean serves as the chief academic and administrative officer of the School and provides visionary, strategic, and collaborative leadership to advance excellence in teaching, scholarship, student success, workforce development, and community engagement.

The successful candidate will join the University during a transformative period focused on enrollment growth, academic innovation, student persistence and completion, workforce alignment, and expanded research and partnership opportunities. The Dean will play a critical role in positioning the School of Business as a regional and national leader in business education, entrepreneurship, analytics, and applied learning while advancing the mission of Oklahoma’s only historically Black college and university.

The Dean is expected to foster a culture of academic excellence, innovation, accountability, and collegiality while strengthening relationships with industry, alumni, government agencies, and philanthropic partners.

Required Qualifications

Ph.D./Ed.D.

Business, Accounting, Finance, Management or closely related discipline from an accredited institution. 

  • (degree must be conferred on or before agreed upon start date)
  • 10 years of progressive administrative experience. 
  • Qualifications appropriate for appointment as an associate professor or professor.
  • Significant academic leadership experience at the department chair, associate dean, dean, or equivalent level.
  • Demonstrated success in strategic planning, budgeting, personnel management, and academic administration.
  • Evidence of scholarly achievement and commitment to academic excellence.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and consensus-building skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to student success.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with AACSB accreditation or other specialized accreditation processes.  

  • Experience at an HBCU, land-grant institution, or mission-driven public university.  

  • Demonstrated success in fundraising, grant development, and external partnership cultivation.  

  • Experience developing online, hybrid, executive, or workforce-focused academic programs.  

  • Industry or entrepreneurial experience that enhances business-school leadership.  

  • Knowledge of emerging trends in business education, analytics, AI applications, entrepreneurship, and workforce development.
