Position Introduction:
The Office of Admissions & Recruitment (OAR) works to bring in the next generation of Sooners. Our team operates from Norman as well as across the state, nation and world. We provide support to incoming domestic and international freshman transfer, and high school concurrent students as they navigate the college application and decision process. Additionally, we partner with faculty/staff, parents, counselors, and communities in providing resources to students interested in higher education. Our goal is to build a vibrant community with limitless potential by recruiting the most academically qualified students with a variety of educational, service, involvement and community experiences. We’re currently looking for several new student employees in our office to serve as Campus Group Tour Guides for the 2026 Spring/Summer Term.
Responsibilities: Campus Group Tour Guides are responsible for a variety of duties within the Office of Admissions & Recruitment. Roles will be relatively consistent across the summer.
- Tour Guide Roles Will Include the Following:
- Giving 90-minute walking campus tours throughout the week to various groups of prospective student groups.
- Providing unsurpassed customer service to all campus visitors, faculty, staff, and partners at the University of Oklahoma.
- Maintaining a positive environment for everyone visiting campus.
- Facilitating various conversations and presentations with prospective students and guests.
- Being knowledgeable and informed regarding several functions of OU, including college admissions process, all academic programs, leadership and involvement opportunities on campus, campus living, freshman year experiences, etc.
- Managing and completing daily Tour Office tasks and making sure students receive materials and information for the day.
- Communicating additionally to prospective students through email, phone calls, etc.
- Adhering to all University of Oklahoma campus policies and adhere to the OU Student Code of Conduct (ou.edu/studentlife/studenthandbook).
- Completing other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Application:
Applications will be open until April 3, 2026.
After your online application is completed and reviewed, interviews will be conducted. If you are selected for an interview, you will be contacted by the hiring committee with a time to sign-up for an interview. Candidates will be notified about the position and will then need to complete paperwork through OU HR to attend the first meeting. The white slip must be sent or give to the supervisor, Marissa Henderson.
Training:
Group tour guides selected can begin training to give a tour on Monday, April 22. Training will take place between Monday, April 20 – Wednesday May 20. The first summer group tour offered will be on Thursday, May 21. Group tour guides will shadow and be given a script for the tour.

Required Education and Experience:
- Must be currently enrolled in a combination of two terms as a student at the University of Oklahoma.
- Hiring contingent upon verification of current student status.
- Applicants for Tour Guides must either be a rising Sophomore, Junior, or Senior standing to apply and work for this position.
Skills:
- Applicants should be comfortable speaking in front of groups of various sizes (large and small) and be able to engage in conversations with people of various backgrounds.
- Applicants should have a desire to work with a group of fellow students in a team environment.
- Applicants should be flexible to adapt in various situations and be able to quickly think on their feet.
- Applicants need to be highly motivated, organized, timely, welcoming, and familiar with the OU campus and resources.
- Applicants should be in good academic standing with the University of Oklahoma.
- Each applicant will be subject to background checks and Student Misconduct check per the Minors on Campus Policy. Guides will not be hired until completed.

Department Preferences:
Employment is for April/May 2026 – August 2026. Applicants should be willing to work several shifts per week over the summer and be extremely available to host visiting groups over the course of every day each week.
