Position Introduction:

To advance the mission and values of the OU Athletics Department by gaining hands-on experience in sports marketing, event promotion, and community engagement. This position is designed for full-time college students with a strong interest in the sports industry who are seeking an introductory experience in athletics marketing. Student assistants will support traditional marketing efforts that promote OU Athletics events both on campus and throughout the Norman community while gaining exposure to the various responsibilities within an athletics marketing department. The OU Athletics Marketing Student Ambassador position is intended to be an educational, entry-level opportunity for students exploring careers in sports marketing.

Essential Functions:

  • Assist with grassroots and traditional marketing initiatives that promote OU Athletics events and programs on campus and in the surrounding community.
  • Have a presence at community events, promotional appearances, and gamedays.
  • Engage with incoming freshmen during Summer Sessions to distribute information about OU Athletics events and student engagement opportunities.
  • Help create a fun, engaging, and family-friendly atmosphere at athletics competitions and community events.
  • Interact with fans and foster relationships with the local community through activations such as Kids Zones and FanFest areas.
  • Distribute flyers, posters, and other marketing collateral across campus and throughout the community through tabling and pop-up marketing events.
  • Participate in networking and professional development opportunities with full-time staff across the OU Athletics Department.
  • Assist in writing copy for promotional materials including commercials, public address announcements, and in-game reads.
  • Support fan engagement messaging through social media, email, text campaigns, and influencer marketing initiatives.
  • Assist with promotional efforts for student engagement programs such as Sooner Rewards and youth initiatives like the Sooner Kids Club.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Education:

  • High School/GED, AND:
  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s Degree Program.
