Position Introduction:

The Office of Advocacy and Education (OAE) Peer Educators are responsible for providing campus-wide education to currently enrolled OU students. OAE Peer Educators have the opportunity to facilitate various presentations, workshops, and outreach events and assist
with social media and graphic design campaigns related to: gender-based violence prevention, substance misuse prevention, sexual health, hazing prevention, and other general health and wellness topics. Peer Educators will be trained and certified under
national NASPA standards and have access to other professional development opportunities and resources.

Presentations, workshops, and outreach events may include but are not limited to:

• Camp Crimson/Mandatory Trainings – Both The Consent Conversation and Let’s Talk about Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) are mandatory trainings for incoming students. These are 1-hour long presentations, typically facilitated during Camp Crimson.
• Gender-Based Violence Prevention – The Consent Conversation, The Consent Bar, #RelationshipGoals, Boundaries, and other presentations designed to increase understanding of and prevent gender-based violence (including sexual and dating violence, stalking, and harassment) on campus and beyond.
• Substance Misuse Prevention – Let's Talk about AOD, Let’s Talk about AOD 2.0, Moderation 101, and other presentations designed to increase understanding of and prevent substance misuse (including binge drinking, prescription misuse, illicit drug use, overdose, etc.) and the recovery process on campus and beyond.
• Hazing – Stop Hazing, Stop Hazing 2.0, and other presentations designed to increase awareness and prevention around hazing in our campus community including defining hazing, recognizing signs, and knowing how to report.
• Sexual Health – Sexperts and other presentations designed to empower students through knowledge and skills that help them to protect their health, make informed choices, and understand community impacts of sexual health.
• General Health & Wellness – Sleep Talk, Stress Management, SafeBreak, and other presentations designed to help students navigate common issues around various wellness topics as students.

Required Education and Experience:

• Must be currently enrolled in the Fall 2026 Term as an undergraduate student in good standing at the University of Oklahoma.
• Hiring contingent upon verification of current student status.
• Must be in good academic and judicial standing

Job Responsibilities:

• Mandatory Peer Educator Fall Full-Team Training (August 3—6, 2026: 9am—5pm)
• Mandatory Peer Educator Fall Small-Group Training (Approx. 3 hours during August 10—13, 2026)
• Mandatory Camp Crimson presentation facilitation, including The Consent Conversation and Let’s Talk About AOD (August 19—23, 2026)
• Providing supervisors with information such as class and other job schedules, as well as schedules for those involved in student organizations, Greek chapters, and/or athletics.
• Expected 8 hours worked per semester, totaling 16 hours worked throughout the academic year (not including hours spent working Camp Crimson, attending monthly meetings, orientations/trainings, and one-on-one meetings). Specific required working hours will be solidified once the hiring process is complete.
• Ability to attend* monthly 2-hour meetings for education and outreach updates
• Ability to attend* two one-on-one meetings with supervisors per semester

• *Exceptions for absences may include conflicting classes or off-campus part-time jobs,
  and illness. Alternative methods of participation for missed meetings are expected, and
  subject to discussion with supervisors.

Required Qualifications:

• Strong oral communication and presentation skills.
• Dependable and punctual.
• Mature and responsible decision-making.
• Has completed all mandatory training provided by the OAE on behalf of university policy.

Department Preferences:

• Prior knowledge, understanding of, and passion for topics within the educational content
  and resources provided from the OAE.
