Position Introduction:

The campus programs coordinator and secondary advisor to the Campus Activities Council (CAC) in the office of Student Life is responsible for fostering a commitment to student success by actively developing, implementing, and maintaining programs and services that enrich student learning, build and maintain a strong sense of community and support the social and personal development of students at the University of Oklahoma. This position will assist the lead student program coordinator and director of Student Life in providing vision and strategies to support the students and communities they represent.

ADVISING

  • Serving as the secondary advisor for Campus Activities Council. This will include regular meetings with executive boards and individual meetings with members of executive and leadership boards.
  • Ensure inclusion of student voice in policies, procedures and priorities through regular engagement (weekly/bi-weekly/monthly meetings).
  • Supporting students through attendance of special events.
  • Student development through co-curricular experiences.
  • Establishing leadership curriculum for students.

PROGRAMMING

  • Planning and organizing various seminars, conference, recruitment activities, award banquets and other student related activities.
  • Connect students to appropriate campus resources (academic, health and wellness, career planning, etc.).
  • Coordinate or assist in coordination of special projects and events.
  • Oversee the process of program development, from creating to implementation to reporting/assessment of results.
  • Designing student newsletters, brochures, handbooks and other publications.

ASSESSMENT

  • Overall assessment of programs and services offered by functional unit in Student Life.
  • Assessing the needs of students and developing and implementing targeted programs and services.
  • Researching, collecting and analyzing data or information and preparing reports or responses to inquiries.

ADMINISTRATIVE

  • Maintaining records (student files, inventory, officer rosters, community rosters, other office files, etc.).
  • Serving as a liaison on and off campus to key stakeholders.
  • Assisting with the development and administration of office policies and procedures.
  • Manage day-to-day operations of designated area including budget oversight.
  • Manage a graduate assistant/student assistant(s).
  • Assist with campus-wide crisis/emergency response and provide support to students and families in emergency situations.
  • Maintain websites (via CMS), social media and other promotional engagement platforms (OU Engage).

All other duties as assigned.

  • Assist in identifying and recommending policy suggestions when efficient, sustainable, and alternative solutions are found.
  • Developing and implementing efficient budgets, cost saving solutions and long-term financial savings and investment strategies.
  • Effective oral and written communication, research, mathematical and computer skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to handle multiple projects at one time.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Frequent exposure to pressure caused by deadlines and busy periods.
  • Required to work irregular hours (outside of normal business hours) due to student programs and events.
  • Ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree.

Equivalency/Substitution: Will accept 48 months of equivalent experience in lieu of a Bachelor's degree.

Department Preferences:

  • Master's degree in higher education administration, student affairs or a related field.
  • 0-24 months of experience.
  • Experience with first generation student engagement/programming.
