Position Introduction:

The OAR Office Assistant serves as an assistant for the Office of Admissions and Recruitment (OAR) in Admissions Operations. This position will handle a high volume of telephone calls, answer general questions through our online chat system, provide high quality customer service, and perform other clerical duties as assigned. These other clerical duties may include preparing & sending out mail for early outreach efforts, preparing admission boxes, assigning emails, data input, redacting test scores, uploading documents to student files, filling in at the welcome desk for walk-in guests as needed, and other duties as assigned.

We are currently looking for new student employees in our office to serve as OAR Student Office Assistants for the 2026 - 2027 Academic Year.

Required Education:

  • Must be currently enrolled in the Fall 2026 Term as an undergraduate student in good standing at the University of Oklahoma.
  • Hiring contingent upon verification of current student status.

Work Schedule:

  • Monday - Friday, between the hours of 8:00 am and 5:00 pm
  • Average of 10-15 hours a week during the school year, up to 35 hours a week in the summer
  • Scheduled around your class schedule
  • 2-3 required Saturdays per year
  • Friday availability (Certain event days (mostly on Fridays and a select few on other days) we will require extra help on the phones (more hours for you!)

  • Applicants should be flexible and adaptable in various situations and be able to quickly think on their feet. 
  • Applicants need to have a high attention to detail.
  • Applicants should have effective communication skills (verbal & written).
  • Applicants need to be highly motivated, organized, timely, welcoming, and familiar with the OU campus and resources.
  • Applicants should have basic math & computer skills.
