Position Introduction:

The University Libraries seeks a Building Operations Coordinator for OU Norman campus library facilities.

This position will:

  • Assist with the coordination of building security operations and facility maintenance.
  • Coordinate maintenance of facilities and infrastructure including equipment maintenance.
  • Monitor building and infrastructure systems and reports and facilitates response to facility emergencies and equipment failures.
  • Perform or facilitate light maintenance, cleaning and minor repairs.
  • Serve as building resource coordinator.
  • Assist in determining needed response to facility and equipment issues.
  • Coordinate small projects, working with vendors and contractors to ensure that work is completed on time and according to specifications.
  • Coordinate routine maintenance with OU Facilities Management, working with all trades and custodial personnel.
  • Work closely with library security vendor on hiring, training and scheduling of library security guards.
  • Maintain and update policies and procedures including library emergency and business continuity plans.
  • Other applicable duties as assigned.

The successful candidate will be required to have the following skills:

  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written
  • Proficient in Microsoft products (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Able to supervise projects and give directions effectively
  • Detail oriented for accuracy of data and information
  • Highly organized and able to handle multiple projects and deadlines
  • Strong initiative to solve problems
  • Ability to work well across organizational teams and departments
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of building systems such as HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry and painting.
  • Knowledge and experience with building maintenance, equipment, supplies and materials.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision on daily tasks and complete work within deadlines
  • Ability to occasionally work after normal business hours, on weekends and overtime if necessary.
  • Must have transportation and ability to drive to multiple library facility locations

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Equivalency/Substitution:  Will accept 48 months of related experience in lieu of the Bachelor's degree for a total of 72 months of related experience.
  • 24 months of professional building management/facilities experience.

Required Certifications and Licenses:

Valid Driver's License

Department Preferences:

48 months of facilities, mechanical or construction experience.
