Position Introduction:
The School of Biological Sciences is searching for an Undergraduate Research Assistant to work on spinal cord control of leg movements. Our research focuses on how an animal's nervous system selects and generates appropriate behaviors for each circumstance the animal faces.
In this position, you will primarily assist with animal surgeries related to this research goal. No experience is required, however excellent hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills are necessary.
Duties include: Animal surgeries: This will include anesthetizing the animal, exposing the spinal cord, and separating nerves from other tissues without damaging them. Cleaning and organization of the laboratory Operation of autoclave, making solutions as needed Other duties as assigned

Required Education and Experience:
Must be currently enrolled in the Fall Term as a student at the University of Oklahoma.
Hiring contingent upon verification of current student status.
Excellent hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills are required Must have the patience and ability to sit at a stereomicroscope and manipulate surgical tools for as long as eight hours at a time Some university-level Biology coursework preferred
