Position Introduction:
Tutors in the Boys & Girls Club of Norman will provide academic support and education to students enrolled in the after-school program. This position is part-time through OU’s Federal Work Study program.
Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one or small group instruction tailored to each student’s learning needs and goals
- Develop and implement personalized lesson plans and instructional strategies to improve understanding and performance
- Supervise students during sessions, ensuring a safe and structured learning environment
- Help students develop critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Provide feedback and support to students to help them develop confidence and skills

Required Education and Experience:
Must be currently enrolled in the Fall Term as a student at the University of Oklahoma.
Hiring contingent upon verification of current student status.
- Must attach Fall 2026 class schedule
Minimum Qualifications:
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Experience working in structured or group settings with children preferred.
- At minimum, some college experience; many positions require a teaching certification or specialized tutoring certification from recognized organizations
- Strong subject knowledge in areas such as Math, Reading, Writing, Science, or test preparation (SAT/ACT, high school entrance exams) depending on the program
- Ability to adapt teaching methods to different learning styles and needs, including students with learning differences or special needs
- Excellent communication, patience, and motivational skills to engage students effectively
- Ability to operate a personal computer using e-mail, word processing, excel and other applications related to assigned duties
- Ability to maintain effective working relationships with staff and volunteers
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to adhere to agreed upon schedule.
- Approved background check.
