Position Introduction:

Looking for a flexible on-campus job? Join the K20 Center and GEAR UP the METRO team and gain valuable professional experience while supporting daily office operations. Student employees enjoy flexible work hours between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, making it easy to balance work and class schedules. The K20 Center is located on OU’s Research Campus, near the National Weather Center.

The Student Programmer will assist in the design, development, and maintenance of codebases for mobile applications, websites, and educational software. These apps and services will be used for student learning and/or assessment and will include the tracking of data to be stored and analyzed for research purposes.

Monday - Friday 7:00 am - 5:00 pm, working around class schedule

$15.00 - $20.00/hourly based on experience and assessment of skills

Job Summary:

A Student Programmer will follow industry and K20 Center standards to implement projects used by teachers and students. These projects develop participants' understanding of a subject, assess their abilities in an area, or allow educators to better organize curricula based on findings from analyzed tracking data. These projects include mobile and web applications, development tools, and any other educational software as needed by the K20 Center.

Required Education and Experience:

Must be enrolled in the Fall 2026 term at the University of Oklahoma.

Hiring contingent upon verification of current student status.

Department Preferences:

  • Pursuing a degree in Computer Science or a related field.
  • Two years of software development experience
  • Experience with Node, React, or similar web frameworks
