Security Advisor

About the role

We have a great opportunity for a skilled and passionate Security Advisor to join the Security Assurance team. As Security Advisor, you will provide technical expertise, work across complex problems and are responsible for the delivery of service excellence within the following areas of the team’s operations:

  • Security assessments of external service providers
  • Vulnerability management scanning
  • Patch governance
  • Penetration testing services
  • Internet surface area assessments
  • Data leakage technology configuration and fine tuning
  • IT access governance – skills, processes, reporting and metrics
  • Monitoring of policy, standards and compliance.
  • Cryptographic key management.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Develop strategies, roadmaps and operational plans to define and implement Suncorp’s vulnerability scanning and penetration testing program.
  • Work with project teams to conduct security assessments of external service providers to ensure appropriate security controls are in place.
  • Drive the implementation of appropriate Data Leakage Prevention (DLP) controls across Suncorp.
  • Work with internal business teams to manage the lifecycle of cryptographic keys used to secure electronic financial transactions.
  • Develop strategies, roadmaps and operational plans to ensure appropriate controls are in place to monitor the IT environment for indicators of security policy breaches.
  • Using Agile techniques, support the product, platform and service-based teams throughout the business to deliver customer value.
  • Proactively manage relationships with vendors, service providers and partners.
  • Undertake activities and tasks, mindful and compliant with all relevant governance, policies and procedures.

Skills, Qualifications & Experience

  • At least 5+ years IT experience within a professional environment.
  • At least 3+ years IT Security experience within a large organisation.
  • Current tertiary qualification in Information Technology is highly desirable
  • Demonstrated specialised knowledge of security-related concepts, practices and technologies.
  • Hands on experience with risk management practices and processes.
  • Hands on experience with the development of security related strategies, roadmaps and operational plans.
  • Technical knowledge of enterprise level security platforms, including: Networking technologies, Firewall technologies, Web Application Firewall technologies, data leakage and anti-malware technologies.
  • Technical knowledge of infrastructure and application vulnerability assessment tools and a conceptual knowledge of Secure Software Development Lifecycles and common application vulnerability classes (i.e. OWASP top ten).
  • Technical knowledge of cloud related security practices, disciplines and technologies.
  • Technical knowledge of Linux, Unix, Windows and mobile technologies
  • Knowledge and commercial experience with industry standard security practices, architectures and frameworks, including access management and access governance best practices.
