As an Acquisition Senior Data Engineer at Suncorp, you’ll work in a pivotal role in the Insurance & Enterprise Technology team, designing and delivering high-impact data solutions. Your work will involve automating data supply chains, enriching data from multiple sources, and contributing to critical business outcomes. With your technical leadership and deep industry knowledge, you'll drive innovation, enhance data quality, and mentor junior engineers. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver complex solutions in a fast-paced, agile environment.

 

What you’ll do

  • Design, build, and test large-scale data assets and solutions.
  • Lead solution development, data flow design (ETL), data profiling, and root cause analysis.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Product Owners, Architects, and Delivery Managers.
  • Apply best practices in continuous integration, automated testing, and deployment.
  • Champion data engineering practices and drive performance improvements within the team.
  • Mentor and coach junior engineers, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and collaboration.
  • Implement and manage development environments, data acquisition pipelines, and tools like Jenkins, AWS Redshift, and Snowflake.

What you’ll bring

  • Minimum 6 years of experience in data engineering with strong expertise in SQL, data acquisition, and ETL tools (IBM Infosphere, Talend, Databricks).
  • Strong experience in cloud platforms and tools (AWS Redshift, Snowflake, PostgreSQL, Jenkins).
  • Proficient in working with multiple data formats including CSV, JSON, XML, and more.
  • Demonstrated experience with Agile and Lean methodologies.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proven ability to lead and mentor teams, driving cultural and technical change.
