The Role

As the Injury & Wellness Specialist, collaborating closely with the Manager of Injury and Wellness, you will oversee Melbourne Water's workers' compensation portfolio. This involves managing the care and rehabilitation of Melbourne Water employees who require support following workplace injuries, illnesses or conditions.  This role entails comprehensive end-to-end WorkCover claim management, as Melbourne Water are a self-insurer. Your key responsibilities include:

  • Managing all aspects of Melbourne Water’s WorkCover claims from the initial eligibility decision through to claim resolution.
  • Oversee Melbourne Water’s WorkCover return to work plans focussing on sustainable outcomes and fostering a positive recovery.  
  • Provide technical expertise in Workers' Compensation Claims Management and Injury Case Management.
  • Reporting on all facets of the WorkCover portfolio

Please note this is Permanent Part Time opportunity (0.4 FTE – 2 days per week), and offers a hybrid work arrangement in office/work from home.

Salary: MW EA Level 7 starting at $105,602 plus superannuation

Your Skills and Experience

  • Extensive experience and a well-established understanding of the Worker's Compensation Act, injury management, and return-to-work processes.
  • Proven track record in effectively managing intricate worker compensation claims and delivering technical guidance to management and stakeholders.
  • Proficient communication abilities, coupled with excellent interpersonal skills and the capacity to cultivate strong and impactful relationships. Capable of working independently while also collaborating with stakeholders to seek specialist advice and share insights as needed.
  • Preferred experience in a dynamic operational/self-insurance or business partnering environment.
  • Drivers licence
  • Criminal Records Check
  • Able to work in the office (Docklands) every second Tuesday
