About The Role

Reporting to the Manager, Service Enablement – Drainage and Flood Mitigation, this is a full-time, permanent position within the Drainage & Flood Team.

As the Senior Asset Manager, you will provide technical leadership, coordination, and oversight of programs within designated asset portfolios and disciplines, working collaboratively across the broader business.

In this role, you will manage infrastructure assets in partnership with peers to deliver and optimise capital programs and maintenance strategies, while offering asset management and technical expertise to ensure effective performance and sustainability.

The asset portfolio primarily covers Melbourne Water’s underground drainage network and associated assets, and you will also work closely with the Service Enablement Headworks team.

In this role you will:

  • Carry out assigned Asset Management tasks in line with Asset Management processes and procedures including but not limited to maintenance strategy determination, condition monitoring of assets, responding to technical queries, root cause analysis, register assets in Maximo
  • Initiate and develop business cases for capital projects in line with Melbourne Water’s capital management system
  • Undertake decision-making to ensure whole of lifecycle cost of assets and services is minimised
  • Build and maintain positive customer and stakeholder relationships including providing technical advice to Service Delivery (Operations and Maintenance) in a collaborative way.
  • Provide advice and guidance to team members as required
  • Provide Asset Protection advice to internal and external parties to ensure that Melbourne Water’s assets are protected (Planning, other referrals, Information Requests)

About You

  • Tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering or related technical discipline
  • Experience and general understanding of asset management and flood management principles such as drainage assets, flood mechanisms flood mitigation interventions.
  • Active engineering registration in a related discipline (i.e. civil) relevant to the position is required.
  • Experience in the lifecycle management of water industry assets or equivalent industry/infrastructure including condition monitoring of assets.
  • Ability to critically explore and analyse solution options and evaluate consequences of different risk scenarios and implement appropriate cost-effective risk management techniques.
  • Proven history of working as a collaborative team member and working in a constructive culture to achieve customer centric outcomes
  • Strong interpersonal skills together with excellent verbal and written skills
