Who we are

As caretakers for Melbourne’s water cycle, we care for water, life and land throughout Melbourne: both its people and its biodiversity.

Each time you drink from the tap, flush a toilet, or kayak down the Yarra—we’re there. Primed and ready, quietly delivering some of the world’s cleanest water for over five million residents and wildlife that call Melbourne home —just as we have for over 130 years.

If you value making it count, diving in with curiosity, and doing what’s right, you're in the right place.

About the Role

Reporting to the Planning and Scheduling Lead NW, this role sits within Melbourne Water’s Infrastructure Operations group and plays a key part in keeping essential water and wastewater services running safely and reliably for millions of Victorians.

As the Scheduling Coordinator, you will work at the centre of operations, maintenance and delivery, coordinating complex maintenance programs across major operational assets. Your work will directly support safe operations, strong asset performance and positive outcomes for customers and the community.

You will coordinate maintenance schedules from long-range planning through to near-term delivery, working closely with internal teams and external service providers. The role offers strong exposure across the organisation and is well suited to someone looking to build capability in maintenance scheduling, asset management and stakeholder collaboration, with clear pathways into broader planning or operational roles. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Coordinating maintenance schedules across T-12 to T-1 planning horizons to support safe and reliable operation
  • Working closely with maintenance service providers and operational teams to set priorities and balance resource
  • Coordinating outages and works programs to minimise operational risk and customer impac
  • Driving continuous improvement in scheduling processes, systems and ways of working

About you

You are someone who thrives in complex environments and enjoys bringing structure, clarity and collaboration to moving parts. You combine technical understanding with strong communication skills and a practical mindset.

You enjoy working with a broad range of stakeholders and take pride in helping teams succeed through better planning and coordination. Safety, accountability and teamwork matter to you, and you value being part of an organisation that invests in people and long-term capability.

You will bring:

  • Experience in maintenance planning or scheduling within complex mechanical, electrical or instrumentation environments
  • Strong problem-solving, organisational and analytical skills
  • Confidence working with operational stakeholders, contractors and service providers
  • Experience using asset or maintenance systems such as Maximo, along with solid MS Office skills
  • A relevant trade, tertiary or planning qualification, or significant industry experience
