Your next career opportunity
As the Communications and Stakeholder Engagement Lead, you'll spearhead the University of Melbourne's National Security program communications. You'll develop and execute integrated strategies to support the establishment of a new operating unit within Chancellery Research and Enterprise, working as part of the Strategic Communications team. Your role will be crucial in promoting the University's efforts to partners, key stakeholders and the community, building consensus and support for national security activities. 

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Develop and execute communication strategies: Lead the creation and implementation of annual external and internal communication and stakeholder engagement plans, as part of the University’s integrated research communications and marketing strategy. 
  • Issues management: Support in responding to media enquiries and issues management in collaboration with the Associate Director, Strategic Communications (Research) and broader Strategic Communications team 
  • Drive awareness and advocacy: Create opportunities to amplify the University's national security agenda, leveraging key project milestones to increase understanding. 
  • Provide strategic advice: Provide communications and stakeholder engagement guidance to project teams, working groups, and steering committees. 
  • Manage stakeholder relations: Engage with diverse stakeholders across the University, government, and industry to ensure effective execution of communications strategies. 

You may be a great fit if:

You are an experienced communications professional with postgraduate qualifications, adept at developing and delivering strategic communications for complex projects, with a strong background in stakeholder engagement and crisis communication.

You may also have:

  • Postgraduate qualifications in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience.
  • Extensive experience in leading communication and stakeholder engagement strategies.
  • Excellent skills in creating promotional collateral and content for various channels.
  • Demonstrated expertise in crisis communication and issues management.
  • Strong collaborative skills and experience working with high-level stakeholders.
  • Experience in developing strategic communications policies and guidelines.
  • Staff management experience and drive continuous improvement.
