About the Opportunity

We are looking for two Human Resources/Industrial Relations Managers to support the establishment and delivery of a project-wide HR/IR strategy. The role will assume responsibility for providing advice and support to a major infrastructure venture and may be involved in the negotiation and implementation of future enterprise agreements. The successful candidate will be instrumental in developing future industrial policies and procedures, managing the Right of Entry, and liaising with local site management and relevant unions.

Your ability to build and retain strong relationships are critical to the success of this role.

About the Position:

As the HR/IR Manager you will be responsible for all aspects of HR/IR management.

In additional your key responsibilities will be:

  • Define and develops industrial relations plans to manage stakeholders, mitigate risk and drive project outcomes and priorities.
  • Assist with the management of project industrial relations activity and action as required, including liaising with operational personnel to prevent and resolve industrial disputes.
  • Identify current and future industrial relations risks/opportunities that may impact the project and develop strategies to mitigate risks and leverage opportunities.
  • Provide strategic and hands on support to senior management on key industrial issues, including liaising with construction workers and their union representative(s).
  • Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation Awards and Enterprise Agreements
  • The ability to consider and advise on HR/ IR changes, trends, threats and opportunities which impact on business outcomes

About you:

To be successful you must have the following experience and capabilities:

  • 10+ years in a HR/ IR position in the construction industry, preferably in Victoria providing expert advice to key stakeholders on issue/dispute resolution and industrial relations/employment legislation, policy, awards and enterprise agreements
  • Extensive enterprise agreement negotiation and industrial relations advocacy experience
  • Solid knowledge of legislative and economic environment as appropriate to the role
  • (e.g. Building Code, Fair Work Act, contract law, construction industry etc.)
  •  Degree in Human Resource Management or similar required
