TasWater’s Capital Delivery Office (CDO) is responsible for delivering TasWaters major infrastructure projects. These extensive, interesting, and varied works form part of TasWater’s $1.1 billion, capital works program that is being rolled out across the state of Tasmania. 

The Selfs Point STP Project is valued in excess of $300m and comprises the new Selfs Point Sewage Treatment Plant and the Macquarie Point pumping station joined by a new Sewer Rising Main.

The position of Commercial Manager for the Selfs Point STP Project sits with CPB Contractors who are in partnership with TasWater, UGL and WSP to build and enhance TasWater's capability in a range of operational and strategic areas such as safety, project controls, estimating and program management. This is an exciting opportunity for a Commercial Manager based on site at the new Selfs Point Sewage Treatment Plant site in Hobart to promote, encourage and assist senior management and project teams in implementing effective commercial (contractual and financial) practices on the Selfs Point STP Project.

Our ideal candidate will have extensive experience in commercial and contract administration gained on construction, engineering or associated projects with extensive experience in a commercial management role. 

They will also hold a Bachelor degree or equivalent in Engineering, Law, Commerce, Accounting, Quantity Surveying, Business or other associated disciplines or Post graduate qualifications e.g. graduate certificate, graduate diploma in Commerce, Accounting, Business, Construction Management, Property, Quantity Surveying, Construction Law or other associated disciplines.

A general overview of the role includes:

• Commercial and Financial management: Lead the Commercial function for the Selfs Point STP project ensuring strong contract, commercial and financial risk management (including development and implementation of appropriate project controls), and accurate forecasting of both costs and revenue;

• Ensuring project managers, contract administrators and all relevant project staff understand and comply with commercial requirements in contracts with counterparties and major/high risk subcontracts;
• Lead identification and quantification of Head Contract scope changes and all subsequent negotiations with the Client; and 
• People management: Establish and develop a high performance team.
