The Project

McConnell Dowell and CPB Contractors, along with Design partners Mott McDonald, Arup and Aurecon have been awarded the Tram Grade Separation Projects as an Alliance, comprising of works at three main locations along the Glenelg Tram Line. The purpose of the Tram Grade Separation Project is to improve the safety and efficiency of the major north south corridors to the west of the city by removing and improving the Glenelg Tram Road crossings. 

The existing overpass at South Road will be replaced in order to facilitate the construction of the T2D Project. The level crossings at Marion Road and Cross Road will be removed and replaced with an overpass, and Morphett Road level crossing will also be replaced by tram overpasses removing the interface with road traffic and creating new public spaces beneath.

These projects will be delivered by the Tram Grade Separation Projects Alliance (TGSPA) together with the Department for Infrastructure and Transport.

Your opportunity

The key focus of the role is to manage the costing team and provide purchasing support and advice whilst achieving optimum production and cost outcomes over the course of the project.

  • Procurement and management of subcontracts including payments and variations
  • Provide assistance with the preparation of contract documentation
  • Interface closely with multiple construction teams
  • Provide input to the monthly project cost reporting process
  • Calculating and validating incurred costs of materials, contracts and labour
  • Ensure all contractors and suppliers are appointed in line with the procurement schedule
  • Materials take-offs including placement of orders to meet program dates.

To be successful in this role, you must have the following

  • Tertiary qualifications in construction management or a related field
  • At least 2 years of experience in construction
  • Proven interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships at all levels
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and prioritise work effectively, including interfacing with multiple stakeholders
  • Detailed and analytical thinking
