The Project
The project is in the Defence sector on sites located in regional Western Australia. The overall project is more than 2 years in duration, involving significant construction upgrades to airfield asphalt pavements and related infrastructure assets.
Your Opportunity
We are looking for an experienced Cost Controller to join our team. You will be responsible for cost analysis of the variance between estimated and actual costs in regards to self-perform works, analysing actual costs in JDE versus Rover, identifying trend analysis to assist the engineering team, cost comparisons, assist in preparation of earned value analysis of work packages, cost journals, end of month reporting and monthly accruals.
The ideal candidate will have a background in cost management with exposure to civil engineering, subcontract works, and self-delivery works on large-scale construction projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare accurate and timely cost reports, including forecasting and variance analysis, in collaboration with budget holders, area managers, and project teams.
- Reconcile weekly wage and plant costs to correct JDE cost codes, including CPB wages, plant costs, and alignment with Rover hours and CDRs.
- Establish and maintain contract rates in Rover for all resource classes, aligned with contract rate tables and site rosters.
- Partner with Project Engineers, Accounts, and Area Managers to resolve discrepancies, support budgeting, and provide additional cost analysis as required.
- Drive effective cost control by monitoring costs, participating in project reviews, providing financial insights, and continuously improving cost control processes.
Our minimum requirements for this role are:
- Proven experience as a Cost Controller, ideally on a large-scale construction project.
- Degree in Quantity Surveying, or related field.
- Possess strong mathematical and computer skills, proficient with all MS Office products (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
- Exceptional attention to detail with ability to recognise discrepancies.
- Strong knowledge of cost management principles, estimating and budgeting processes.
- Proficiency in cost management software and tools (Power BI, excel and bespoke packages)
- Excellent analytical, financial forecasting, and reporting skills.
- Strong stakeholder management with the ability to lead discussions on project costs.
- Experience in Defence and airfield project delivery is highly regarded.
- Ability to meet Department of Defence security clearance requirements (DCAC)
