About North East Link 

The Spark Consortium has been selected to deliver the Central Package of the North East Link Project - Victoria's biggest road project.

The Spark Consortium’s Design and Construction Contractor - which comprises Webuild, CPB Contractors, GS Engineering and Construction and China Construction Oceania - will deliver the twin three-lane tunnels and key interchanges for the project.

The Central Package will be delivered as a Public Private Partnership and provides three-lane twin tunnels that will close the missing link in Melbourne’s freeway network from the M80 Ring Road to an upgraded Eastern Freeway, reducing journey times and diverting heavy vehicles away from local roads. Up to 135,000 vehicles will use North East Link every day, reducing congestion in the north-east while maintaining local roads.

About the Opportunity

Exciting opportunity available for a motivated Project Engineer who will play a key role in delivering civil infrastructure works with a focus on stormwater drainage, earthworks, asphalt, and signalling works. This role is responsible for overseeing project delivery from planning through to completion, ensuring effective coordination between the site team, subcontractors, and stakeholders.

This role will be accountable for:

  • Leading short-term and medium-term planning and programming of works in collaboration with site teams and subcontractors
  • Managing project compliance with technical specifications, applicable legislation, approvals, and internal risk management processes
  • Coordinating and administering construction planning and programming activities for approval by the Project Manager
  • Monitoring and managing project costs, including forecasting, reporting, and cost control initiatives
  • Identifying, assessing, and implementing risk management strategies across project activities
  • Ensuring environmental compliance requirements are met and driving continuous improvement initiatives
  • Reviewing and interpreting project drawings, specifications, and Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs)
  • Managing subcontractor and supplier performance to ensure efficient and timely project delivery
  • Overseeing project documentation including progress reports, QA/QC records, and contractual requirements
  • Ensuring compliance with WHS regulations and company policies across all project activities
  • Supporting the development of construction methodologies, staging plans, and resource planning

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering

Minimum requirements for this role:

  • Proven experience working road construction, preferably in construction or infrastructure projects
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, or a related field. Master's degree is a plus
  • 6 + years of progressive experience in engineering within the construction industry
  • Experience working with a Tier 1 contractor highly desirable
  • Strong understanding of engineering, techniques, and applications
  • Proficiency in project management software and tools
  • Experience working with a Tier 1 contractor highly desirable
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
