About North East Link

The Spark Consortium has been selected to deliver the Central Package of the North East Link Project - Victoria's biggest road project.

The Spark Consortium’s Design and Construction Contractor - which comprises Webuild, CPB Contractors, GS Engineering and Construction and China Construction Oceania - will deliver the twin three-lane tunnels and key interchanges for the project.

The Central Package will be delivered as a Public Private Partnership and provides three-lane twin tunnels that will close the missing link in Melbourne’s freeway network from the M80 Ring Road to an upgraded Eastern Freeway, reducing journey times and diverting heavy vehicles away from local roads. Up to 135,000 vehicles will use North East Link every day, reducing congestion in the north-east while maintaining local roads.

About the Opportunity

As a Commissioning Analyst at Spark, you will become the insight engine behind the Mechanical, Electrical & Intelligent Transport Systems (MEI) team. Rather than simply producing reports, you will investigate why things are happening, identify trends and bottlenecks, predict what may happen next, and provide practical recommendations that improve project delivery. Your work will directly support construction, commissioning and asset handover by enabling informed, data-driven decision making.

Working closely with our Reporting Analyst, Digital, IT and Database teams, you will develop scalable reporting solutions, Power BI dashboards and data processes that improve productivity across one of Australia's largest infrastructure projects.

This role would suit someone who enjoys solving complex problems, collaborating with stakeholders and transforming data into meaningful business outcomes. Experience within construction or infrastructure is advantageous but not essential, we welcome applications from talented Data Analysts across any industry.

This role will be accountable for:

  • Develop and maintain Power BI dashboards and reporting solutions that provide actionable insights to support MEI delivery, commissioning and project handover.
  • Analyse, validate and interpret data from multiple project systems to identify trends, solve complex problems and improve project performance.
  • Collaborate with Digital, IT, Database and project stakeholders to deliver scalable reporting, workflow and process improvement solutions.
  • Translate business requirements into practical data, reporting and process improvements while documenting workflows and standardising ways of working.
  • Support continuous improvement across the MEI team through data-driven decision making, stakeholder engagement and knowledge sharing.

Minimum requirements for this role:

  • Minimum of 3–7 years' experience as a Data Analyst, Business Analyst or similar analytical role, ideally within large capital projects or engineering environments.
  • Degree qualification in Data Analytics, Computer Science, Information Technology or a related discipline.
  • Advanced skills in Power BI (or equivalent data visualisation tools), SQL and Microsoft Excel, with experience in Python and DAX highly regarded.
  • Demonstrated experience in requirements gathering, process mapping and translating business needs into reporting, workflow and digital solutions using tools such as Jira, Visio, Miro or Figma.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify trends, optimise workflows and communicate actionable insights to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience in business analysis, continuous improvement or Lean methodologies (e.g. Lean Six Sigma) is advantageous.
  • Experience within construction, engineering or infrastructure is desirable; however, we welcome applicants from other industries who can demonstrate strong analytical capability and a passion for solving complex business problems.

What we Offer:

  • Ongoing career support and development opportunities
  • Generous parental leave
  • Strong culture charter
  • Quarterly social events
  • Reward and recognition program
  • Flexible working arrangements
  • Competitive salary
