Two CIMIC Group companies, UGL and CPB Contractors have been selected by Transgrid to deliver the 130km western section of the HumeLink high voltage electricity transmission project.
HumeLink is a new 500kV transmission project which will connect Wagga Wagga, Maragle and Bannaby in regional NSW that will significantly increase the capacity of the electricity network in Australia’s eastern states. HumeLink is one of Australia’s largest energy infrastructure projects, with about 365kms of proposed new transmission lines and a range of other new and upgraded infrastructure.
The HumeLink West scope of works, worth $1.4bn, includes delivery of new 500kV double circuit transmission lines spanning ~140kms from Wagga Wagga Substation to a new Substation at Gugaa, the Interface Point with HumeLink East near Gundagai and a new substation at Maragle in the Snowy Mountains for future connection to Snowy 2.0.
The Opportunity
Reporting to the Commercial Manager, the Senior Contract Administrator will lead the administration of subcontractor and supplier contracts, ensuring commercial, financial, and operational objectives are achieved. This role will be instrumental in managing project cost controls, contract compliance, claims and variations, and stakeholder relationships across a complex major project environment.

Key Responsibilities
As the Senior Contract Administrator, you will:
- Manage the administration of subcontractor and supplier contracts throughout the project lifecycle.
- Oversee project financial administration, including contract payments and cost management.
- Support project reporting by preparing and reviewing commercial and financial data.
- Assist with the identification, evaluation, and submission of variations and contractual claims.
- Monitor contract compliance and proactively manage commercial risks.
- Ensure subcontractor and supplier payments and contractual obligations are administered accurately and on time.
- Support dispute avoidance and resolution activities.
- Develop and maintain effective relationships with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, consultants, and project stakeholders.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance project performance and profitability.
- Promote a culture of safety, collaboration, accountability, and operational excellence.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
Essential Experience
- 5+ years' experience in Contract Administration, Commercial Administration, or a similar role within construction, infrastructure, engineering, or major projects.
- Strong knowledge of contract management principles and commercial practices.
- Experience managing subcontractor and supplier agreements on large-scale projects.
- Demonstrated experience in cost control, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
- Proven ability to manage variations, claims, and contractual obligations.
- Well-developed negotiation, influencing, and stakeholder management skills.
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Qualifications
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Engineering, Business, Law, or a related discipline.
- Additional relevant qualifications or industry certifications will be highly regarded.
Where applicable, evidence of tertiary qualifications and proof of right to work will be required prior to successful appointment.
