This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and hands-on professional with a strong understanding of excavation activities around existing underground services, live infrastructure, and complex construction environments. The successful candidate will play a key role in leading crews, ensuring safe work practices, and delivering high-quality project outcomes while maintaining the highest standards of safety and compliance.

As a Live Dig Specialist, you will be responsible for coordinating and supervising excavation activities in and around live underground services, ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project requirements, permits, and industry best practices. You will work closely with construction teams, supervisors, and service locators to minimise risk, protect existing infrastructure, and promote a strong safety culture across the project.

  • Ensure compliance with project procedures, permits, safety requirements, and environmental obligations.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate risks associated with live digging operations.
  • Interpret construction drawings, plans, and specifications to support safe and effective project delivery.
  • Coordinate with field crews and stakeholders to ensure work is completed safely and efficiently.
  • Promote and maintain a strong commitment to workplace health and safety, hazard identification, and risk management.
  • Mentor and support team members while maintaining high standards of workmanship and productivity.

  • Minimum 3 years' operating experience within a large-scale construction environment.
  • RIICM202D – Identify, Locate and Protect Underground Services.
  • RIICPL401D – Apply Principles for Installation of Underground Services.
  • Previous Coal Seam Gas (CSG) industry experience.
  • Demonstrated experience working around live underground services and existing infrastructure.
  • Strong understanding of excavation safety, permit-to-work systems, service locating requirements, and exclusion zones.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, plans, and specifications.
  • Current and valid driver's licence.
  • Current General Construction Induction Card (White Card).
  • Demonstrated commitment to Workplace Health and Safety (WHS), risk management, and hazard identification.

What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate will have a proactive approach to safety, strong leadership capabilities, excellent communication skills, and the technical expertise required to manage excavation works in high-risk environments. You will take pride in delivering safe, efficient, and compliant outcomes while contributing to a positive team culture.

This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a major infrastructure project and join a professional team committed to safety, quality, and operational excellence.

These roles are offered on a FIFO arrangement from Brisbane or local hire, working a 18 on and 10 off roster.
