CPB Contractors is Australia’s leading contractor and the largest infrastructure construction company in our region. Part of the CIMIC Group, we are proud to be constructing Australia’s future and do so collaboratively with our partners and clients.

We hire for careers, not project life. CPB Contractors has more than 50 major infrastructure projects in delivery, across all key sectors of the construction industry, including roads and bridges, rail, tunnelling, defence, airports, buildings and resources, providing you with career opportunities for years to come.

The Project

CPB is working on a major infrastructure project in regional Queensland, involving the construction and delivery of a large scale, highly technical facility.  We are currently seeking an experienced Senior People & Culture Advisor to join our project delivery team, working on a complex, fast paced construction environment.

The role will initially be based in Brisbane before moving onsite based in regional Queensland so we are seeking candidates who are open to a FIFO arrangement from interstate locations or can be based in Brisbane with frequent site travel. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working a 15:6 roster, supporting project requirements.

Your Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Senior People & Culture Advisor to partner with project leadership and operational teams, providing strategic and hands-on HR support across a major infrastructure project. This role will play a key part in driving employee engagement, supporting workforce planning and ensuring best-practice people management throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with project leaders and managers to provide practical People & Culture advice across employee relations, performance management, workforce planning and organisational change.
  • Manage complex employee relations matters, including investigations, grievances, disciplinary processes and interpretation of employment legislation, awards and enterprise agreements.
  • Lead and support key people initiatives, including talent management, succession planning, employee engagement, retention and leadership development.
  • Provide guidance on recruitment, onboarding, workforce mobilisation and resource planning to support project delivery requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with HR policies, procedures and relevant employment legislation while identifying opportunities to improve people processes and drive a positive workplace culture.

Our minimum requirements for this role are:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources, Business or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in a Senior HR Advisor or People & Culture Advisor role, ideally within major infrastructure, construction, engineering or another project-based environment.
  • Strong knowledge of Australian employment legislation, industrial relations, employee relations processes and relevant awards or enterprise agreements.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to influence leaders and manage sensitive matters in a fast-paced operational environment.

We particularly welcome and encourage applications from Indigenous Peoples, women, the LGBTQ+ community, mature workers, Veterans and active-duty armed forces, people with disabilities and people from different cultural backgrounds. CPB Contractors is proud to hold the Workplace Gender Equality Agency (WGEA) Citation - Employer of Choice for Gender Equality.

We’re always looking for ways to make CPB Contractors a more rewarding place to work and offer a unique set of benefits, including:

  • A rewarding career where we support your development, training and promote from within.
  • Opportunities across all construction sectors so that there is always an opportunity suitable for the next stage in your career.
  • Competitive remuneration and excellent benefits including a health and wellbeing program, discount portal and company-funded salary continuance insurance.
  • Flexible work arrangements and a culture that values diversity and innovation.

Please note: This role is being sourced through CPB Contractors directly and we will not accept applications via external recruitment agencies.
