About the role

As our next Finance and Administration Manager, initially reporting to the Regional Finance Manager, you will have the unique opportunity to hone your skills within a supportive environment before transitioning to an autonomous, site based role. On site, you will report to the Project Manager and work collaboratively towards delivering high-quality solutions and results.

Initially a Brisbane based role where you will develop the skills and refine your approach to the management of finance and administration, before transitioning to a site based role in the Bowen Basin of regional Queensland or the Hunter Valley of NSW.

To be successful in this role you are required to:

  • Have flexibility in being initially Brisbane based before moving to a remote Queensland location.
  • Manage, influence and empower direct reports to execute planned works to ensure performance targets are achieved.
  • Embrace the safety leadership program and generate a positive safety culture through visible felt leadership.
  • Manage Head Contract relationships including progress claims and variations.
  • Perform as a key liaison for internal and external audits to ensure Quality Assurance (QA) on site.
  • Report the financial position of the project in an accurate and timely manner in accordance with Accounting Standards and group accounting policies
  • Prepare accurate budgets and forecasts, undertake annual budgets and monthly variance analysis compared to original tender.
  • Undertake monthly cost review meetings with all project functional managers.
  • Manage finance and administration systems optimise to meet project requirements in consultation with the Project Manager and Finance functional team.
  • Ensure requested reports meet the clients’ requirements and are completed in the timeframe that has been agreed.
  • Lead, coach and develop team members by setting clear expectations, monitoring performance and mentoring team members.

About you

  • 5+ years mining and leadership experience
  • Bachelor of commerce with an accounting major
  • Certified Practicing Accountant (CPA) or Chartered Accountant (CA)
  • Established experience working in a mining or heavy industry environment
  • Experience managing a finance team
