The Project

Parramatta Light Rail Stage 1 is a design and construct Rail project based in the Western Suburbs at a value of approximately $840M. The project will connect Westmead to Carlingford via the Parramatta CBD and Camellia with a 12-kilometre, two-way track. This 50:50 joint venture with Downer includes construction of Light rail track, roadworks and stop platforms, Transport interchanges at Westmead, Parramatta CBD and Carlingford; and new light rail and pedestrian zones along Church and Macquarie Streets in the Parramatta CBD, and urban design.

The Position

Reporting into the Project Director, the HR Manager will drive a proactive, leading edge HR focus across the project and support the development, implementation and maintenance of effective strategies, initiatives and "best practice" processes, procedures and systems.

Based in Parramatta, this position will also:

  • Oversee, support and assist the project on a range of HR matters and use effective tools to predict and plan for resourcing needs arising from the project strategy.
  • Oversee the preparation of project budgets & cost forecasting
  • Lead by example in creating and maintaining a seamless JV environment and ‘One Team’ approach
  • Mentor developing talent across the Project and provide the benefit of own knowledge and experience to others.
  • Drive a culture of Business Excellence
  • Ensure decisions are client and customer focused
  • Support and follow relevant SHEQ procedures, programs and initiatives

 

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Knowledge of managing performance and managing sub-contractors, and coaching and mentoring approaches
  • Extensive knowledge of Employment Law
  • Sound knowledge of Industrial Relations legislation
  • Contractual and commercial awareness, including competency in subcontract understanding and interpretation with a focus on a JV environment
  • Presentation skills, e.g. facilitating team meetings and engaging groups to achieve outcomes
  • Management experience and performance management experience
  • Influencing and negotiation skills
  • Skills in governing effectively and skills in implementation of compliance and governance processes and practices
  • Strong understanding of Workforce Development and Social Procurement initiatives and programs.
