What does the job look like?

The Retail business is seeking a Safety and Compliance Manager to join their Melbourne based team.  This role will be essential in partnering with our operational sites across the western suburbs working closely to maintain a strong link between compliance and safety, ensuring that our managers and employees have the training, skills and support to provide a safe work environment at all times.

As the Safety and Compliance Manager, this role will involve regular travel and support to our transport  sites to assist with risk management, team communications, training, consultation, audits and incident investigations. Key areas:

  • Lead, mentor and drive safety outcomes within the Retail business
  • Coordinate annual safety management programs and company initiatives
  • Establish effective and measurable objectives, targets & KPIs for the business unit  
  • Measuring, monitoring and reporting on continuous improvement in safety and compliance 
  • Assist sites in interpreting and implementing Linfox safety and compliance standards and legislative requirements with a view to ensuring national consistency and compliance
  • Provide expertise with investigating incidents and analysing root cause, developing effective corrective actions, and sharing key learnings
  • Conduct pulse checks and provide support with preparation and conduct of WHS and Chain of Responsibility internal or external audits and non-conformances

Are you the one?

With a strong practical and operational focus, your passion to drive safety and compliance across our customer sites, coupled with your ability to work in an open, collaborative, and inclusive manner will ensure success in this role. You can demonstrate:

  • Certificate IV or Diploma of workplace health and safety is regarded however not essential
  • Demonstrate strong knowledge of Road Transport safety and compliance
  • Experience working across a full range of WHS activities in a large complex environment
  • Ability to coach and influence leadership to set and enforce safety standards and targets
  • Superior interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to maintain confidentiality
