The Opportunity
The School of Mathematics at Monash University invites applications for the position of Associate Professor in Applied and Computational Mathematics.
The School is a research leader with a strong international reputation. We are one of the largest of the five Schools in the Faculty of Science and have close working collaborations with other Schools/Departments such as Physics and Astronomy, and Earth, Atmosphere and Environment as well as other Faculties such as Business and Economics, Medicine, Information Technology and Engineering as well as the Monash Data Futures Institute. The School also has strong links with outside institutions such as CSIRO, the Defence Science and Technology Organisation, the National Australia Bank and many research institutes and universities around the world.
The School of Mathematics structure is organised into three sections:
- Applied & Computational Mathematics
- Pure Mathematics
- Stochastic Analysis and Probability
Candidates are expected to have a PhD in mathematics or related areas, an outstanding research record in applied and computational mathematics, and a strong commitment to teaching and supervising research students. Successful candidates will be expected to take a leadership role within the School.
This role is full-time; however, flexible working arrangements may be negotiated.
Please note that this position's preferred start date is January 2026 (however this is negotiable).
