The Opportunity

Monash Law is seeking to appoint two outstanding legal practitioners to join our clinical legal education team as Level B Lecturers (Education-Focused) at Monash Law Clinics.  One position will focus on family law, while the other will suit a generalist lawyer with experience in areas such as tenancy, fines, credit and debt, or employment.

These positions play a key role in providing students with practical legal experience while delivering high-quality legal services to the community. The successful candidates will supervise students in clinical legal education units, manage a caseload within the clinic, and contribute to curriculum development by integrating their professional expertise into the educational/learning process/content. They will also support the effective operation of the clinics, contribute to community engagement, and participate in advocacy, law reform and partnership-building activities.

Ideal candidates will have relevant legal practice experience, strong teaching and supervisory skills, and a commitment to innovation in legal education. They will demonstrate excellent interpersonal and organisational abilities, with the capacity to work collaboratively across academic and community legal settings. A commitment to educational excellence and social justice is essential. Colleagues on Education Focused contracts are required to engage in scholarship, and a commitment to developing this facet of their role is required.

These are unique opportunities to combine academic and professional expertise in a role that supports student learning and improves access to justice.
