The Opportunity

An exciting 12 month maternity leave replacement has come up in our amazing Climateworks Centre. We are seeking a Public Communications Manager to join us, where you will play a crucial role in building Climateworks’ profile and positioning the organisation through compelling communications aimed at media and public audiences.

In this role, you will be responsible for developing and implementing communication strategies which support staff and senior stakeholders in Australia and Indonesia to amplify their work and influence the public narrative.

Collaborating closely with our Communications Lead, you will support our strategic outlook, highlight key initiatives, and grow the impact of Climateworks. Your role will also involve working with spokespeople to effectively convey our story to target audiences, as well as synthesising organisational-level narratives.

To excel in this role, you should possess highly developed management skills, a deep understanding of external communications, and extensive experience in media and audience strategy.

You should have a track record of producing engaging written content, strong planning and organisational skills, and the ability to build successful relationships, influence stakeholders, and provide advice and feedback internationally and interculturally. Analytical and conceptual skills are crucial, as is the ability to stay updated on current affairs and news agendas relevant to our mission.
