About the role
Reporting to the Vice-Chancellor and President, the Provost and Senior Vice-President plays a pivotal role in advancing Monash’s strategic objectives. Through the impactful leadership of the Provost portfolio and ten diverse faculties, and in collaboration with the central portfolios, the Provost drives collective efforts to continuously enhance and deliver academic excellence across the University.
Responsible for the operational performance of the faculties, the Provost ensures alignment with the University’s education, research, international, Indigenous and student experience agendas, while fostering a culture of accountability, excellence and collaboration.
At the core of the Provost’s leadership role is shaping academic workforce strategy - effectively connecting workforce planning, capability development and performance frameworks to the University’s strategy and priorities, and building strong foundations for ongoing success.
A key member of Monash’s senior leadership team, the Provost partners with executive colleagues to embed a unified, future-focused agenda that strengthens the University’s position within the competitive and dynamic global higher education landscape.
About you
You are a highly esteemed academic leader with a distinguished record in research and scholarship. With extensive leadership experience across complex, research-intensive and multi-site international organisations, ideally complemented by a background as a dean, you thrive in fast-paced environments and excel in driving outcomes-focused strategic planning and execution.
A proven champion of transformational change, you communicate a compelling vision that inspires engagement and builds momentum. As a values-based leader of diverse teams, you foster a culture of accountability, performance excellence and collaboration.
Skilled in developing strong, enduring relationships with internal and external stakeholders, you bring nuanced and sophisticated capabilities in communication, influence and negotiation.
