Within the Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences, the Sub-Faculty of Clinical and Molecular Medicine is one of the University’s most influential academic health precincts. Based at the Monash Medical Centre in Clayton, it encompasses the School of Clinical Sciences, Monash Centre for Health Research and Implementation, Monash Victorian Heart Institute, Victorian Heart Hospital, and University-aligned activities within the Hudson Institute of Medical Research.

Role Overview
This dual appointment is a role of genuine scale, influence and global impact, and offers an unparalleled opportunity to lead academic and clinical research strategy across one of the nation’s most dynamic health partnerships.
As Dean, Sub-Faculty of Clinical and Molecular Medicine, you will provide visionary academic, strategic and operational leadership across research, education and engagement. You will be responsible for the performance, growth and culture of the Sub-Faculty, ensuring alignment with Impact 2030 while championing innovation, interdisciplinarity, and a high-performance, inclusive culture.
In your concurrent role as Chief Research and Innovation Officer, Monash Health, you will drive the organisation’s strategic research agenda advising the Chief Executive Officer, advancing translational research, strengthening research infrastructure, and creating joint programs that bridge academic and clinical domains. You will oversee planning for sustainable, fit-for-purpose research environments across the precinct, embedding a culture of innovation that enhances patient care and community impact.

Key Responsibilities
As Dean, Sub-Faculty of Clinical and Molecular Medicine, you will:
- Provide exceptional academic leadership across education, research and community engagement.
- Drive strategic priorities that align with Impact 2030 and ensure financial sustainability.
- Enhance teaching quality and student experience, including oversight of Monash’s largest MD student cohort and a range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs.
- Foster a high-performance, inclusive culture and expand international and industry partnerships.
- Represent the Sub-Faculty nationally and internationally, strengthening its reputation and influence.
As Chief Research and Innovation Officer at Monash Health, you will:
- Lead the integration and development of research activities across the health service.
- Advise the Chief Executive Officer on research strategy, governance and infrastructure.
- Champion translational research and innovation to achieve meaningful health outcomes.
- Oversee research infrastructure planning to ensure long-term growth and sustainability.
- Cultivate cross-sector collaborations that amplify the precinct’s global standing.
About You
Essential Qualifications and Experience
- Medical specialist qualification relevant to the Sub-Faculty and Monash Health.
- A PhD or equivalent research doctorate in a relevant medical or health-related discipline.
- Senior academic standing with an international reputation in research and education leadership.
Key Competencies
- Demonstrated success leading multidisciplinary academic or clinical institutions.
- Proven track record of securing research funding and producing high-impact scholarship.
- Strategic and financial acumen, with experience managing large, complex organisations.
