About the Role

As a Nurse Consultant, you will provide clinical expertise and leadership in the delivery of mental health care to specified consumer groups, ensuring the highest standards of nursing practice. Your role will involve direct mental health care, offering clinical leadership within your team, and coordinating projects that aim to enhance consumer outcomes. You will work within the framework of the National Mental Health Policy and the National Standards, contributing your expertise to improve care across a range of services.

In addition to delivering comprehensive mental health nursing care, you will play a key role in education, counselling, and group work, with a focus on supporting consumers through their recovery journey. Collaborating with a variety of professional disciplines and non-governmental organisations, you will be a driving force in ensuring that nursing practices align with policy and best practices. This role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on both individual consumers and the wider mental health community, all while being part of a supportive and dynamic team.

About You

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Nurse Consultant to join our team. To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • A current registration with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia and a Graduate Diploma in Mental Health Nursing.
  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to manage multiple demands, lead clinical change, and foster staff development.
  • A proven ability to collaborate effectively with consumers, carers, multidisciplinary teams, and external agencies.
  • A deep understanding of mental health nursing practices, community services, and relevant legislation, with a commitment to quality care and recovery frameworks.
