About the Role

We are seeking a proactive and experienced Nurse Unit Manager to lead the Hospital in the Home (HITH) service within the Central Adelaide Local Health Network (CALHN). This unique role offers the opportunity to provide expert nursing leadership beyond the hospital walls—ensuring that patients receive high-quality, hospital-level care in the comfort of their own homes. You’ll use your advanced clinical knowledge and experience to coordinate care delivery, support staff development, and oversee multidisciplinary activities focused on continuity and excellence in patient outcomes.

As the Nurse Unit Manager, you’ll be responsible for the overarching management of CALHN HITH services, including supervision of staff at an off-site location and collaboration with a wide range of internal and external healthcare partners. Your leadership will be essential in promoting the HITH model as a safe and effective alternative to inpatient care, reducing hospital admissions while maintaining high standards of clinical practice and patient experience. This is a rewarding leadership role for a nursing professional who thrives on innovation, coordination, and delivering person-centred care in non-traditional settings.

About You

You are a strategic and compassionate nurse leader with a strong background in care coordination, team development, and service innovation. Your ability to foster a high-performing, consumer-focused environment makes you a trusted leader in complex care settings.

  • Proven leadership experience in nursing, with strong communication, conflict resolution, and change management skills across multidisciplinary teams.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop person- and family-centred models of care, while mentoring and empowering staff to reach their full potential.

  • Sound knowledge of nursing standards, safety and quality frameworks, and legislation relevant to healthcare and hospital substitution models.

  • Extensive experience in managing complex patient needs, including hospital avoidance strategies.
