Join our passionate team at NALHN and bring your expertise to a role that transforms lives. As a Senior Occupational Therapist, you’ll lead innovative, patient-centred care within the Urgent Care Hub, helping people receive timely and individualised care when they need it most.
The Urgent Care Hub Playford is a service that supports older people requiring urgent comprehensive geriatric assessment and treatment in an alternative environment to an Emergency Department. You'll be part of a highly collaborative multidisciplinary team led by geriatricians, providing essential occupational therapy services to patients requiring immediate care and intervention.
About the Role:
As a Senior Occupational Therapist, you'll assess, treat and support older adults presenting with diverse clinical conditions as a part of a multidisciplinary team within our Urgent Care Hub at Playford.
Within the role of the Senior Occupational Therapist you will:
- Conduct comprehensive interdisicplinary and occupational therapy assessments in the urgent care setting
- Work closely with multidisciplinary teams to achieve optimal patient outcomes and avoid hospital admissions where appropriate
- Identifying and implementing strategies and supports to facilitate safe discharge home
- Provide clinical supervision and mentorship to junior therapists across the Northern Adelaide Geriatric Service
- Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and service development
About You:
You will have a degree in Occupational Therapy, and be eligible for and/or hold current registration with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia.
You will have extensive clinical experience, including program evaluation and service development.
You will thrive in a fast-paced environment which requires you to adapt to changing priorities.
You demonstrate strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Postgraduate qualifications and experience in emergency or acute care settings are highly desirable in this setting.

Lyell McEwin Hospital – The major hospital in the north and north-east for emergency care, complex and multi-day surgery, medicine, obstetrics, paediatrics and outpatient services.
Modbury Hospital – A general hospital with emergency care, elective surgery, medicine, outpatient and sub-acute services, rehabilitation, geriatric and palliative care.
Mental Health - The Division of Mental Health provides a comprehensive range of public mental health services for youth, adults and older people in northern Adelaide. Services are provided through community health centres and hospitals, and to consumers in their own homes.
Forensic Mental Health - A statewide service that operates as part of the Division of Mental Health for forensic patients and prisoners.
