Infectious Diseases Unit at SALHN is one of the participating sites for the first of its kind international clinical trial called Randomised Arthroplasty Infection Worldwide Multidomain Adaptive Platform Trial (ROADMAP). ROADMAP is an innovative trial in collaboration with the Orthopaedic team to evaluate a range of interventions with the aim of improving treatment outcomes for patients with prosthetic joint infections.
A dedicated research assistant to assist & coordinate this multidepartment research is needed. The research assistant will provide administrative and clinical trial assistance to the surgeons and ID consultants on the various tasks associated with running a clinical trial including the start-up, execution and closeout of the trial.

About the role: 

Reporting to the Head of Unit, you will coordinate all aspects of the ROADMAP clinical trial from patient recruitment through data collection to trial completion, working closely with surgeons and Infectious Diseases consultants to ensure seamless delivery of this world-first research study.

Duties for the role will include:

  • Provide proficient, person centred, clinical nursing/midwifery care and/or individual case management to patients/clients in defined research criteria,
  • Assessing and Monitoring patient/client care plans to ensure appropriate data collation based on research criteria,
  • Assists and supports the Infectious Diseases Nurse Consultant or equivalent in management, clinical and research activities as required in the inpatient and outpatient setting,
  • Plan and coordinate services including those from other disciplines,
  • Participate in clinical auditing, clinical trials and/or evaluative research,
  • Integrate advanced theoretical knowledge, evidence from a range of sources and own experience to devise and achieve agreed patient/client care outcomes,
  • Maintain record keeping in alignment with research requirements

About you:

  • Registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and who holds, or who is eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate,
  • Effective communication, problem solving, conflict resolution and negotiation skills,
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team,
