About the role

The Consultation Liaison Psychologist delivers specialist clinical care to children and adolescents with mental health needs; providing clinical assessment and evidence‑based therapeutic care to children and young people with acute and/or ongoing medical issues. The Psychologist collaborates closely with medical and mental health colleagues across multi-disciplinary teams to contribute to quality improved patient care and staff support. This nuanced interface between medical and mental health care requires a range of specialist skills

Key duties of the role

  • Utilise clinical and therapeutic skills to assess and develop formulations for patients and their families
  • Demonstrate competency in a range of evidence based therapeutic interventions
  • Implement evidenced-based individual, family and/or other group therapies
  • Undertake reliable and validated assessments
  • Participate in partnerships to identify mental health needs in the community

Skills and Experience

  • Completion of Master’s Degree requirements within 6 months of commencement of position (Provisionally Registered).

  • Clinical experience in the treatment and management of child and adolescent mental health issues.
  • Ability to implement clinical assessments and interventions of a complex nature
  • Experience working with a high degree of responsibility with limited direction
  • Demonstrate a commitment to the principles of social justice
