About the role

As the Pre-Analytical Operational Services Officer, you will play a vital role in supporting the efficient and effective operation of the Pre-Analytical Services team you will ensure specimens are received, prepared, stored and transported in accordance with defined standards, supporting the delivery of high-quality samples for timely testing, diagnosis and patient treatment. You will also be responsible for accurate data entry, managing internal and external customer enquiries, and contributing to a responsive and reliable service that underpins safe and effective laboratory operations.

About You

You are a reliable and customer-focused team member who brings strong communication skills, attention to detail and a proactive approach to supporting high-quality pathology and patient services in a busy healthcare environment.

  • Communication, teamwork and customer service: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a strong customer service orientation and the ability to work collaboratively, foster cooperation, and respond to patient and stakeholder needs in a positive, timely and confidential manner.

  • Experience and work practices: More than two years’ experience in a hospital or pathology specimen collection or laboratory environment, with proven ability to prioritise tasks, work effectively in a high-throughput setting, and consistently deliver high standards of performance.

  • Technical skills and knowledge: Demonstrated computer proficiency, working knowledge of Laboratory Information Systems, and sound understanding of NATA requirements, confidentiality, Work Health and Safety and infection control principles.

  • Professionalism and reliability: A strong work ethic with demonstrated reliability and attendance, the ability to work effectively under general direction, attention to detail, a proactive and energetic approach, and a commitment to ongoing professional development.
