Overview:

The Nurse/Midwife to Patient Ratio (NMTP Ratio) project has been established to lead the design of a NMTP Ratio model for the South Australia public sector, draft NMTP ratio legislation and support system transition and implementation.

The Principal Project Officer leads project organisation and provides project management and support to the Strategic Industrial Relations & Policy team within the Department of Health and Wellbeing.  Comprising professional, industrial, legislative and project management expertise, the NMTP Team is responsible for the development of a South Australian public sector NMTP Ratios model, draft legislation, informing transition to the new model and guiding full implementation. This includes advice to inform any necessary changes to the SA Health Nursing/Midwifery Enterprise Agreement 2022.

The Principal Project Officer is accountable to the Director, Strategic Industrial Relations & Policy team for:

  • Leading the planning, coordination and evaluation of the NMTP Ratio project as a high profile and complex whole of system strategic project, using system navigation and strategic policy and project management skills, knowledge and experience.
  • Undertaking project planning, including leading the development, implementation and review of systems, processes and tools to support monitoring and delivery of the project and work packages, using project management skills, knowledge and experience
  • Planning, coordinating and monitoring comprehensive stakeholder communication, engagement and consultation with the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Federation (SA Branch) (ANMF-SA), Local Health Networks (LHNs) and other internal and external key stakeholders.
  • Leading the delivery of a high quality, highly confidential secretariat function for the NMTP Team and any related working groups and ensuring the provision of regular, robust and accurate briefings and reports to Executive, the Chief Executive, the Minister for Health and Wellbeing and Cabinet.
