About the role

The Nurse Unit Manager provides leadership and coordination of nursing and multidisciplinary care, ensuring high‑quality, culturally sensitive services, effective patient flow, and strong team performance while maintaining accountability for clinical outcomes and fostering a positive work culture.

Key duties of the role

  • Provide the pivotal leadership and co-ordination of patient/client care delivery.
  • Ensures services are culturally sensitive for patients and their families.
  • Ensure efficient and timely admissions and discharges of patients.
  • Accountable for nursing budget KPI’s and identify potential cost savings.
  • Develop and maintain a learning environment.

Skills and Experience

  • Registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and who holds, or who is eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate.
  • Registered Nurse with at least 3 years post registration experience.
  • Demonstrated competence in surgical nursing practice.
  • Experience in management and leadership roles.
  • Demonstrated ability to foster a workplace environment that develops staff potential.
