About the role

The Associate Nurse Unit Manager of Kate Hill Ward provides high-quality, person‑centred nursing care while supporting unit leadership, guiding staff, and ensuring consistent care delivery. The Associate Nurse Unit Manager assists with practice changes, workforce management, and daily clinical oversight to achieve quality patient outcomes, all while ensuring staff are supported.

Key duties of the role

  • Provide person centred, clinical nursing care and individual case management.
  • Monitoring patient care plans to ensure appropriate care outcomes are achieved.
  • Act to resolve local and immediate nursing care or service delivery problems.
  • Act as a resource person within an area based on knowledge, experience and skills.
  • Provide shift by shift leadership in the provision of nursing care.

Skills and Experience

  • Registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and who holds, or who is eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate.
  • Registered Nurse with at least 3 years post registration experience or currently classified as a Clinical Nurse.
  • Experience in paediatric surgical nursing.
  • Ability to be creative, innovative and flexible when approaching issues.
  • Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills.
