About the role

As a Technical Officer (TGO1), you will contribute to the delivery of high-quality services of the largest Core Laboratory in South Australia, through the application of sound knowledge, practical expertise and established procedures in Biochemistry and Haematology. Working either independently or as part of a supportive team, you will undertake activities that require technical skill and experience, applying standardised practices to a diverse range of highly automated laboratory tasks. 

In this role, you will participate in triaging of specimens, quality control, reagent management and instrument maintenance to ensure Timely and accurate results. You will bring a proactive and reliable approach, ensuring tasks are completed accurately and efficiently while contributing to a positive team culture and continuous improvement in technical processes and service standards. 

Your work will directly support service delivery in the Royal Adelaide Hospital, supporting the best patient outcomes with timely and accurate results. 

About You

You are a motivated and detail-oriented technical professional who enjoys working in a laboratory environment and contributing to high-quality service delivery. With a strong foundation in laboratory principles and a proactive, team-focused approach, you are committed to accuracy, safety and customer service excellence.

  • Qualifications & Laboratory Capability – Hold a Diploma or Advanced Diploma in an approved and recognised qualification, with general laboratory experience and sound knowledge of laboratory principles, scientific concepts and routine laboratory practices.

  • Organisation & Technical Skills – Able to work under limited supervision, follow written and verbal instructions, prioritise workloads and meet defined timelines. You bring strong numerical, keyboard and computer skills to support efficient and accurate task completion.

  • Teamwork & Communication – Demonstrated experience working effectively within a team environment, with excellent oral and written communication skills and positive commitment to customer service. You build professional working relationships and contribute to a supportive workplace culture.

  • Initiative, Integrity & Safety – Able to use initiative to solve problems and manage variable workloads to a high standard. You handle confidential and sensitive information appropriately and maintain a strong understanding of Work Health and Safety legislation and safe laboratory practices.
