About the role

The Consultant/Senior Consultant delivers high‑quality inpatient, outpatient and community diabetes and endocrinology care, ensuring evidence‑based practice, strong clinical governance and effective partnerships. The Consultant supports education, research, and continuous review to maintain safe, consistent, patient‑centred outcomes.

Key duties of the role

  • Actively participate in the clinical management of clients of the Endocrinology and Diabetes Service.
  • Active participation in clinical review programmes to monitor standards of practice.
  • Development of partnerships both internal and external to support quality patient needs and outcomes.
  • Ensure that correspondence is addressed and communicated to other staff as necessary.
  • Research initiatives are coordinated and planned within the Diabetes and Endocrinology department.

Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor of Medicine; Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent. Appropriate Specialist Qualifications and registrable with the Medical Board of Australia as a Medical Practitioner with Specialist registration; or another qualification as defined in the SA Medical Officers Award.
  • FRACP or equivalent.
  • Recognised as an accredited Specialist in Paediatric Medicine (Diabetes and Endocrinology) by the Specialist Advisory Committee (or equivalent) of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians.
  • Experience in the provision of Diabetes and Endocrinology services.
  • Previous experience in Diabetes and Endocrinology Medicine at a Senior Registrar/Fellow level.
