Food Service Supervisor - Shape Excellence in Hospital Food Services

Lead the kitchen operations at Noarlunga Hospital as our Food Service Supervisor, ensuring high-quality, safe food services that directly support patient care and recovery. You'll manage a dedicated team while maintaining strict food safety standards and fostering a positive workplace culture within our healthcare environment. This full-time contract position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on patient wellbeing through exceptional food service delivery until November 2026.

About the role: 

Reporting to the Manager, this role is responsible for leading kitchen operations at Noarlunga Hospital. The role ensures the provision of high-quality, safe and efficient food services in accordance with the NH food safety program. Lead, develop and foster a positive work culture within Food Services.

Duties for the role will include:

  • Coordinate daily kitchen operations, including workflow management, staff allocation and work schedules,
  • Lead and supervise kitchen production to ensure meals are prepared, cooked and to a high standard of quality,
  • Lead the planning, preparation and service of high-quality meals for patients,
  • Ensure strict compliance with food safety, hygiene and work health and safety standards, including safe food handling, storage and presentation,
  • Work collaboratively with Allied Health Staff (Dietitians) regarding patient dietary needs and menu compliance,
  • Check and certify timesheets and manage leave and staff variations,
  • Ensuring that staff are provided with sufficient training and instruction to be able to adhere to work routines, methods and practices in order to understand and safely carry out their duties,
  • Setting standards of work, inspecting and ensuring that the quality of work performed

About you:

  • Ability to effectively lead a team, with strong communication and organisation skills,
  • Ability to support, motivate and mentor staff,
  • Flexible approach to work routines and practices,
  • Ability to exercise initiative and judgement,
  • Be objective, decisive and consultative in decision making,
  • Coordinate kitchen operations and lead a team,
  • Demonstrated experience in supervising staff in a commercial or institutional kitchen environment,
  • Food Service Supervisor - desirable Cert III or equivalent in Cookery
