About the Role

Working under general direction, you will contribute to the Central Adelaide Local Health Network (CALHN) Orthotics and Prosthetics Service. Working in partnership with other healthcare professionals, you will assist with providing clinical services to patients and perform technical fabrication and maintenance of client orthotic and prosthetic devices.  You will assist O&P clinicians with the fitting of simple orthotic devices and provide patient education and advice in the safe use and maintenance of equipment provided. You will be responsible for maintaining adequate levels of consumables, and the cleanliness and safety of facilities and equipment. You will be required to perform some administrative duties within the department. This may include documenting accurate patient histories, recording accurate and timely workload data, photocopying, filing and undertaking routine administrative tasks for the team. The Queen Elizabeth Hospital offers a diverse complex clinical presentation and supportive work environment. Working for us, you will have access to attractive salary sacrificing options.

You will have prior experience working with people in a caregiving or therapeutic role, including giving manual handling assistance to people with physical disabilities. Applying rehabilitation/therapeutic skills in working with people who have disabilities or are in an acute stage of illness or injury, you will interact with others in a tactful, sensitive and ethical manner. Displaying the initiative required to carry out routine tasks without direction and to report issues requiring attention, you will bring the ability to manage your own workload and prioritise tasks effectively.

About You

To succeed in this role, you will bring a blend of practical skills, relevant experience, and a commitment to patient care. We are looking for someone who has:

  • Physical & Practical Skills: The physical strength and flexibility to safely handle patients and equipment, along with the ability to apply rehabilitation skills under direction.
  • Patient Care & Observational Skills: The ability to recognise and respond to changes in patient condition, and the initiative to escalate concerns when necessary.
  • Experience & Workload Management: Previous experience in a caregiving or therapeutic role, with a demonstrated ability to manage your own workload and prioritise tasks effectively.
  • Knowledge & Communication: A solid understanding of rehabilitation conditions, therapy approaches, and work health and safety principles, alongside excellent communication and documentation skills.
